Shedding the Stigma Surrounding Cosmetic Surgery

I'm on a personal mission to get rid of the stigma that still surrounds cosmetic surgery in many regions. Why am I on this mission? A small surgery changed my life, and I have never regretted it. I was a very shy child with little confidence due to my protruding ears. It sounds like such a small problem to many people, but it affected me and my self esteem greatly. I saved up in high school while working a part-time job, and as soon as I could afford it, I got my parents to agree to let me have my ears "pinned back" when I was 16. My confidence skyrocketed immediately, and I finally began enjoying life for the first time. I want to help others facing similar problems know that they are not alone, and I hope I can touch many lives with my new blog!

A Breast Lift: Do You Need It?

Blog

A breast lift is a type of cosmetic procedure you can get if you want to make your breasts look and feel more youthful and perky, or if you want to alter the shape of your breasts in a more natural way than breast implants. You can get a breast lift in addition to a breast implant procedure, or you can have breast lift services performed as a stand-alone procedure.

Whether breast lift services will work for you or are actually what you need will depend on a few things, which you can discuss in greater detail with your cosmetic surgeon. Always choose a professional, licensed surgeon to perform your breast lift and other cosmetic procedures. Here are a few things worth considering that you can also discuss with your cosmetic surgeon regarding breast lift needs.

The end results you want

Are your breasts lacking depth and fullness due to age and gravity? Have you breast-fed your children and now your breasts are sagging and lacking the youthful fullness they used to have? Are your nipples more underneath your breasts and you wish they were more centered?

Knowing what you want your breasts to look like after you have them worked on will help determine whether a breast lift alone will work for you, or if you need a breast lift and another surgical procedure, or if you need something else entirely, like a breast augmentation or breast reduction. Your cosmetic surgeon will evaluate the elasticity of your breasts and the health of your breast tissue before deciding if you are a candidate for a breast lift.

The current condition of your breasts

What your breasts look like and feel like will determine largely on whether a breast lift will work well for you or if you need further work done. If you don't have a lot of fatty tissue or density in your breasts, then a breast lift might be of minimal benefit if you also want fullness. However, a breast lift can and will remove much of the sagging or stretch marked skin that you wish to get rid of to achieve more youthful breast tissue.

Your breasts may benefit from a breast lift, and you can see the results as soon as you begin to heal from your procedure. Speak to your cosmetic surgeon if you plan on having children in the near future, are currently breast-feeding, or have other concerns about your breasts prior to getting the work done.
