Shedding the Stigma Surrounding Cosmetic Surgery

I'm on a personal mission to get rid of the stigma that still surrounds cosmetic surgery in many regions. Why am I on this mission? A small surgery changed my life, and I have never regretted it. I was a very shy child with little confidence due to my protruding ears. It sounds like such a small problem to many people, but it affected me and my self esteem greatly. I saved up in high school while working a part-time job, and as soon as I could afford it, I got my parents to agree to let me have my ears "pinned back" when I was 16. My confidence skyrocketed immediately, and I finally began enjoying life for the first time. I want to help others facing similar problems know that they are not alone, and I hope I can touch many lives with my new blog!

How Botox Can Be Used For More Than Your Forehead

Blog

When people think of Botox, they often associate it with facelifts, but Botox is actually a great way to give people of all ages subtle results. While getting Botox injections in the forehead and around the eyes is the most popular use, Botox is actually used for other things as well. Whether you are suffering from issues involved with temporomandibular joint disorder or underarm sweat, Botox may be the perfect solution for you.

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder

Your temporomandibular joint is located below your ear and basically where your jaw connects. As a place where  a lot of people hold a lot of stress and tension, this joint (also called a TMJ) can become inflamed and irritated resulting in people:

  • experiencing pain and inflammation
  • being unable to fully open their mouth
  • feeling uncomfortable overall.

One of the best ways to help patients alleviate symptoms is to help their jaw relax. With things like massage and heat, some patients can find relief, but another method is Botox injections. When injected into the jaw, Botox helps patients relax their jaw when they're stressed or anxious, which, in turn, temporarily gets rid of symptoms.

Migraines

Chronic migraines are not something that anybody wants, and they can often be caused by too much tension in the forehead. While you may not be able to get rid of all of your stress that's causing migraines, you may be able to help soften the tension with Botox injections. Similar to how Botox works to relax the TMJ, it can also be injected into the forehead to help relax the facial and head muscles, leaving you with fewer migraines and a more comfortable life.

Underarm Sweat

Sweating is normal, especially when you are working out, but too much sweat can be a complete nuisance and cause embarrassment and it may ruin your clothes. If you have excessive underarm sweat, you can talk to your doctor about having Botox injections administered directly into your sweat glands. When this is done, it will essentially block your body's "sweat sensor," which produces excessive sweat; this leaves you with cleaner, dryer, and less embarrassing underarms.

Botox isn't just a wonder drug to help with cosmetic concerns, but it's also ideal at helping patients with TMJ, migraines, and too much underarm sweat. To see if Botox can be used on you for one of these reasons, reach out to a spa like Time 4 U Med Spa near you today.
