Shedding the Stigma Surrounding Cosmetic Surgery

I'm on a personal mission to get rid of the stigma that still surrounds cosmetic surgery in many regions. Why am I on this mission? A small surgery changed my life, and I have never regretted it. I was a very shy child with little confidence due to my protruding ears. It sounds like such a small problem to many people, but it affected me and my self esteem greatly. I saved up in high school while working a part-time job, and as soon as I could afford it, I got my parents to agree to let me have my ears "pinned back" when I was 16. My confidence skyrocketed immediately, and I finally began enjoying life for the first time. I want to help others facing similar problems know that they are not alone, and I hope I can touch many lives with my new blog!

How To Achieve The Breast Augmentation Results You Want

Blog

When it comes to a breast augmentation procedure, only a portion of its success is at the hands of the surgeon. As a patient, you also play a role in determining just how satisfied you are with the procedure. If you are thinking about having this procedure performed, learn how you can help ensure you are happy with the results.

Know What You Want

The first thing any person who is considering this procedure needs to do is to know what you want. A skilled and artistic surgeon can help craft you a new bust line that meets your needs with little input from you. However, the more information you can provide the surgeon, the better.

Take the time to learn more about material options, such as saline or silicone, if you plan to increase your bust size. You should also think about the type of incisions you want, such as an incision along the areola or the crease of the breast.

Consult, Consult, Consult

It may sound odd to apply this term to surgery but shopping around is the way to go. For breast augmentation, this practice involves consultations. During a consult, a surgeon will listen to the changes you want to make to your breast and offer their professional advice on what measures would be best.

Based on this information, you can determine which surgeon best aligns with your goals. In addition to visiting more than one surgeon for a consult, you can also visit the same surgeon for more than one consult if you have additional questions. Generally, surgeons or clinics will offer consults free of charge, so scheduling an appointment should be easy.

Commit to After Care

One of the most important contributors to the success of this type of procedure is after-care, and as the patient, you play the most important role when it comes to achieving this success. Poor care, particularly when it comes to your incisions, can increase the risk of an infection, which could alter the shape and look of your breast.

The same is true when it comes to compression garments, in that if they are not worn properly, it can alter the placement of your breast. When you sit down with your surgeon, be sure to discuss after-care instructions so that you can plan properly.

Make sure your review these tips and do your part to make your breast augmentation a success.
