Shedding the Stigma Surrounding Cosmetic Surgery

I'm on a personal mission to get rid of the stigma that still surrounds cosmetic surgery in many regions. Why am I on this mission? A small surgery changed my life, and I have never regretted it. I was a very shy child with little confidence due to my protruding ears. It sounds like such a small problem to many people, but it affected me and my self esteem greatly. I saved up in high school while working a part-time job, and as soon as I could afford it, I got my parents to agree to let me have my ears "pinned back" when I was 16. My confidence skyrocketed immediately, and I finally began enjoying life for the first time. I want to help others facing similar problems know that they are not alone, and I hope I can touch many lives with my new blog!

Hands Losing Volume and Looking Old? 2 Tips to Make Them Look Young Again

Blog

As you get older it is common to lose volume in your hands. Once this happens, you will start to see blue veins pop out that are very noticeable, as well as wrinkles. All of this can make your hands appear very old. Fortunately, you have options when it comes to making your hands look younger again, two of which are listed below.

Fillers

Fillers are commonly used to fill in wrinkles on the face, but they can also be used to add volume to your hands. When the treatment is finished your hands will look natural and the results can last over a year in many cases.

Collagen breaks down as you get older which is what leads to wrinkles on the face. Your hands do not have very much fat so losing just a little collagen can make your hands look much older. Injecting the filler into your hands is like putting collagen back again restoring your hands back to normal. After the treatment, you will no longer see the veins popping out and wrinkles will look smoother.

Get this treatment done in a dermatologist's office. They can wipe an anesthetic cream on your hands if you prefer to help with pain if you fear needles. They inject the filler in different areas. How many injections they make will depend on how many veins and wrinkles you have on your hands.

Laser Treatment

There is a laser treatment that can help build up collagen in your hands. You may need only one treatment or several depending on the condition of the skin on your hands. The doctor uses a laser that emits pulses of light that cause collagen to build up. It is not painful and does not take a long time. You can get this laser treatment done by a dermatologist.

It may take a few weeks to notice full results from a laser treatment, but over time you will notice the veins and wrinkles start to fade. After the treatment, it is unlikely you will experience any real side effects. You may have some redness and your hands may feel warm for a few hours after the treatment.

The doctor will give you tips on keeping your hands looking younger longer. They will suggest you wear sunscreen on your hands, as well as keep your hands moisturized throughout the day. The doctor may also suggest vitamins to help with this problem or give you a prescription cream.
